BASKETBALL - Select Tryouts 2017
 

CSA is gearing up for another successful basketball season! CSA offers two Select program levels for 4th-9th grade teams in the following leagues:

  • I270 – Highly competitive, high commitment level, no must-pay rule
  • Rising Star – Competitive, moderate commitment level, no must play rule.

The basketball tryout and selection process is the same as in previous seasons.  However, the tryout fee is $25 which is non-refundable and must be paid before tryouts.  Payment of the full registration fee of $325 must be paid after selection to a Select program.  Click HERE to register for tryouts!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Rec players will register through the county this year as CSA will not offer the RecPlus program.  Please visit ActiveMongtomery.org to register for the county’s rec program)

Season

Player Eligibility

K-8th grade.  Placement of an individual on a team is contingent upon sufficient registration to form a team and recruitment of a volunteer coach.

Must be in the 5th-8th grade. 4th graders are permitted to participate in the 5th grade Rising Star program. 3rd graders or below are not eligible.  Players are not eligible to play up two grades.

I270 is a feeder league into the local high school. There are 3 divisions:

Bantams-up to 10 years old as of 9/1/17

Juniors-up to 12 years old as of 9/1/17

Seniors-up to 14 years old as of 9/1/17

Practices

Grades K-2: Start in January and are on Saturday mornings

Grades 3-8: Start late November. All teams are allotted 1 practice hour per weekday scheduled by the county.

Practices are held once or twice a week starting in October. Coach will determine his/her practice schedule.

Games

Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays.

Registration Timeframe

To register for K-8th grade Rec Basketball: Register online via ActiveMontgomery.org.  All individual players need to complete a registration form either hard copy or online.  Be sure to list your coach’s name and nearest MCPS school on the registration form.  If you are a new player or do not have a coach, write “none” for coach’s name and they will try to find one for you.

Attending tryouts is mandatory if your son and/or daughter would like to be considered for placement on a Select team. 

Due to liability reasons, any participant not paid in full by September 11, 2017 will not be allowed to enter the gym for tryouts; you must pay the tryout fee of $25 online in advance.

Tryouts will be held on Monday, September 11, Thursday, September 14, and Wednesday, September 20 at Clarksburg High School – Main Gym.
